Seashell Lamp

This time around my Pinterest theme is seashells, sand, sea glass, and pearls.  It’s all about things you you can find on the beach.  Happy hunting!      www.pinterest.com/janepurcell

A Little Help From My Friends

June 5, 2012

Hi folks!  It has been a while since I have written anything here and I feel that a great way to start would be to talk about the circle of people, sites, and their shops that have influenced me and been friends as well.

Aunt Bean Artworks

A fellow artist on Twitter has been a fan and a friend, and I think her artwork is dreamy and lovely. You can see how she follows her heart.  Her name is Christine Smith and I highly recommend that you follow her blog  www.auntbeanartworks.blogspot.com/ and on Twitter www.twitter.com/ChristineCantow

Early on I discovered an artist whose miniature artwork just blew me away- not only because it was beautiful, but because the work was so painstaking and meticulous that I doubt few can accomplish what she does.  Her name is Evelina Pastilati, and I have featured her in earlier posts of my blog.  When we met she was beginning to make gorgeous jewelry.  I consider her a friend and am pleased by her success.  These are just a couple of ways to find her on the web:

Evelina guided me to this site:  A Little Etsy Love  www.etsyfix.com/  They help Etsy shops with promotions through giveaways, coupons and ads.  The giveaways are in article form and are short but empathetic to the atmosphere and feeling of the shops they feature.

I’ve done both and feel good each time I get that little ding on my iPod that says I’ve been mentioned by their site.  I personally worked with Nancy Fallon- one of their contributors and I felt the goodwill of friendship instantly.  I’ve also linked to the site with a button on the sidebar and wrote a post about a little etsy love previous to this one.

Nancy Fallon also has her own Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/nfallondesignstudio.  You can find wonderfully beautiful knits, cards, purses, jewelry and art prints in here- my favorite being The Animal -a sweet watercolor reproduction of a giraffe.  You can follow Nancy on Twitter at:     https://www.twitter.com/NFallonDesigns

Another Etsy friend has provided me with some of the tools I need to sell my work and has happily answered my questions.  She provides me with mat kits and I had not realized what a difference they would make to showcase my art.  I purchased black double mats, and later on white double mats.  Both look stunning, but when I saw how sweet the white mats looked with my art,  I realized that I should be focusing on marketing for babies and children.  it was just that one extra click of the dial in the right direction.  I recommend to anyone who loves art that you visit her site- she has been quick and efficient in helping me get the right tools.  http://www.etsy.com/shop/framergirl

For even more supplies such as: kits, acrylic, and some frames, try www.documounts.com    They also specialize in custom mats.  Framergirl can answer any of the questions you may have.

I could list so many more people who have influenced and supported me in this great big world wide web, and I will share them with you.  For those of you who have not seen any of my works or sites here are the links to my favorites:

Scottie Silhouette- Blue Tartan

This is one of the latest drawings I have done.  You haven’t heard from me in a week or two, and I know that anyone creative will understand how difficult it can be to divide your attention.  Between social media, networking, my day jobs,  keeping house, and managing life, there isn’t much room for creative flow.  I have done several pictures over the last week Two of which I have here.

I have all these ideas knocking around in my head and every morning look ahead thinking- “if I do this, this, and this, I’ll have  enough time to draw today.”  Well today is the perfect example- it’s now 7:04 pm and I just noticed that my breakfast plate and coffee mug are still on the table next to me- excuse me a moment…   …   … Hi, I’m back!  I made myself get out of this chair for five minutes.  Of course, I’d like to finish talking with you before I shut my computer down (and I really mean it this time) .  I’ve got to start dinner soon..  I’m trying to remember all the stuff I worked on today… I’m sure it was all very important…

So anyway, I think that most of you understand what I’m

rambling on about.  And I thought I’d end my day with a short chat and share my new pics.  Ta!

Gladiola Garden

Kitty(boo) :D

February 10, 2012

I have mentioned that Kitty has entered my life only recently. Her owner was a close friend to Chris’s family. She found out that she had cancer and was in and out of the hospital. When she was in Kitty was checked on by Chris’s mother but it became apparent that she could not be alone any longer. We agreed (my mother and I) to take her in until her owner came home.

When Kitty walked into our house, she came into the living room and flopped on the floor. That was that.  We were hers, and this was home. I had not had any pets for a long time since my parakeet died. I took that very hard, but now, I am so delighted to have created a safe haven for her. We have all noticed, too, how much we all laugh and smile now. Chris’s parents wanted to take her in, but they were concerned about other family members’ allergies. Her owner passed on and now she’s here to stay.

Above is some of the artistic inspiration she has given me. These are my personal silhouettes of her in common poses. What a good girl…!

Flower Dog and Flower Cat Silouettes

June 9, 2011

I have explored new ways to combine flowers and the other things I love, mainly animals.  So I decided to try with most people’s favorites- their pets.  I hope that all the pet-lovers out there will like my drawings!  Here’s a couple of my earliest ones.
